A rare masterpiece in Sotheby’s New York!

It entrusts the Sotheby‘s auction of the Holy Conversation of Titian January 27, 2011 in New York

The last time that this major work has been exhibited to the public was in 1978 in Geneva. It has changed hands only 5 times since its inception in 1564: it is said that this painting was executed for one of the close of the painter, Sir Orologi Padua. The last owner bought it in 1956: it was the businessman Heinz Kister and this piece is being auctioned by his son in order to create an endowment for the arts in Switzerland.

It is a remarkable picture of the composition it offers: not only the landscape and depth, as critics have already known but also noticed the bond that emerges between St. Catherine and the child whose posture is incredibly natural and current.
We can bring this atmosphere to that painted by da Vinci: The Virgin and Child and Saint Anne in 1510.
The same spontaneity and the same depth of the two works stand out, except a warmth and softness most naive of the composition of Titian, the depth of the most sensual feature so characteristic of the Master, he has the virtuosity succeed in creating themes beyond that required it, always dragging singular and life to any scene.

This work, estimated at 15/20 million, demonstrates this.
We must emphasize the paucity of sales of Titian, the last in 1991 (Venus and Apollo for Christies) and in 2003, Portrait of Alfonso d’Avalos (AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company).
An auction not to be missed, and the exhibition of the work.
